County Durham’s premier regeneration project

Early in 2009, Durham Gate an Outline Planning Approval was granted for the redevelopment of Black & Decker’s Green Lane, Spennymoor factory and adjacent land for a mixed use commercial, hotel, residential and restaurant scheme. Colour-UDL prepared the public realm strategy for this project and have been commissioned to develop a detailed landscape masterplan for submission prior to the release of any land for the first phase of development. Commercial interest has been high and the project is seen by the regional development agency and Durham County Council as the most important current regeneration in the county.
