Design Attitude and Research

The portfolio section of our website now includes a 'Design Attitude and Research' section.

This provides snapshots of how our working structure, diverse design team and culture of Colour promotes innovation. The conceptual, technical and specification thinking of every project is supercharged and rigorously tested through creative and open design review sessions. This closely ties with our fascination with research and constant improvement - how can external landscapes do more ? People make places - how can public space function better ? What materials look more interesting and last longer ? What new software can we use ? How can the attitude to street furniture be more like product design ?

A proactive approach to environmental issues runs through this attitude. For instance, Design and Managing Director Peter Owens delivered a lecture tour in Autumn 2007 in China on 'landscape urbanism' with the agenda of engaging global environmental challenges through everyday landscape architecture. In contrast, we have recently worked with a national paving supplier to develop a new permeable block paviour system that incorporates recycled aggregate with a high quality finish.

The section will be diverse, expanding and updated. For more information, please contact Emma James on 0191 24 24 224
