Planning Approval - Sunderland ARC

The first phase of a new multi-million pound gateway into Sunderland city centre has been granted planning approval with the £130 million Farringdon Row mixed-use development. Starting in January 2006, Colour : urban design limited have developed a landscape architectural solution that both responds to the urban context and employs a combination of green engineering techniques to deliver both a raised client courtyard (shown) that will sit on a concrete slab between 2 crescent-shaped buildings and a strategic boulevard that will ultimately connect the city centre with the River Wear. Construction is due to commence in Summer 2008.
